James Morrison's side picked up all three points in their first home game of the 2026-27 Championship season. Callum Styles' early own goal gave Burnley the lead but the Baggies equalised with Harry Whitwell getting his first Championship goal. Isaac Price's stunner from outside the area put West Brom ahead just after the break before adding a third from the spot. Burnley did create chances in the first half with the attacking threat of Marcus Edwards and Bruun Strand Larsen but Armando Broja struggled to get involved and was subbed before the hour mark. Zian Flemming, who bagged a late brace at Turf Moor last weekend, was absent for the Clarets due to a calf injury, with transfer speculation on going. Isaac Price had the first real chance of the game in the sixth minute. Whitwell’slow cross fell to Price, but his low drilled effort was comfortable for Max Weiss. The Clarets took the lead after eight minutes,Edwards slotted Bruun Larsen in behind. The winger’s drilled cross was inadvertently lashed into his own net by Styles. West Brom were left furious as Felix Myhre was pulled down by Hannibal in the build up. The hosts equalised after 18 minutes through Whitwhell. Burnley were unable to deal with Price’s cross, Jimmy Jay Morgan’s loose touch fell to Whitwell whose low drive found the bottom right corner. Burnley looked for an instant response, Broja latched onto Kyle Walker’s lofted ball over the top. The Albanian got his shot away but Max O’Leary smothered the effort wide. Before the break Price once again sent a low effort straight down the throat of Weiss. Edwards’teasing cross was flicked goal-wards by Brunn Larsen, beating O’Leary but bouncing off the post with Broja unable to follow up. Larsen with some great skill to beat Nolan Galves, set up a huge chance for Aaron Ramsey. The midfielders effort was blocked by Nat Phillips who through himself in-front of the ball. Baggies take control after the break West Brom started the second half in style with a beautiful finish from Price, the ball fell to the midfielder on the edge of the area, he took a touch and bent his effort over the head of Walker and into Weiss' top corner. The Northern Ireland international was involved again as Albion looked to add a third, Price's corner was headed into the ground by George Campbell allowing Weiss to collect. Before the hour break Nicky Hayen made a triple change, Zeki Amdouni, Dastan Satpaev and Ugo Raghouber all came on for the Clarets as they looked to find an equaliser. After the hour mark referee Anthony Backhouse pointed to the spot giving the hosts a chance to extend their lead. Ousmane Diakité slipped in Whitwell and Bashir Humphreys committed a clumsy tackle bringing down the forward. Price stepped up and sent Weiss the wrong way, firing into the bottom left corner to give Morrison's men a two goal advantage with 25 to play. Myhre had a huge chance to add a fourth after Whitwell poked the ball through, but the midfielder couldn't get his footing and Weiss made the save. O'Leary wasn't tested in the final stages as West Brom comfortably saw out victory on home soil, with a lot of work for Hayen and Burnley to do ahead of the trip to Carrow Road next week, following Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash at Bradford. Player of the Match - Isaac Price Price looked a level above, especially in the second half, the midfielder could have even had two in the first half but both strikes were comfortable for Weiss. The Northern Ireland starlet played a key part in the equaliser sending the cross into the area leading to the goal. After the break Price created the goal for himself created space with his first touch, before bending into the far corner leaving Weiss helpless. It was unclear who was going to take the penalty with Morgan also on the field but Price stopped up and made no mistake with a cool strike sending Weiss the wrong way and finding the bottom corner. His work without the ball also went under the radar and towards the end produced some great skill to motor West Brom forward.
