BANGKOK: Pakistan achieved a historic victory in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) elections, with the Pakistan-backed panel winning all three director seats. According to sources, the ACC Annual General Meeting was chaired by ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, while India was represented by Rajeev Shukla. A closely contested election for the three director positions was held during the ACC meeting in Bangkok. The Pakistan-backed panel defeated candidates supported by India to secure all three seats. According to sources, this is the first time since the establishment of the Asian Cricket Council that a Pakistan-backed panel has won all three director positions. The President of the Qatar Cricket Association, Sheikh Abdulaziz, was among the candidates for the director position and received Pakistan’s support during the ACC election. The development marks a significant achievement for Pakistan within the regional cricket governing body and strengthens its representation in the ACC.
