COVENTRY City are set to sign Manchester City defender Stephen Mfuni on a season-long loan deal according to reports. Various reports have confirmed Coventry’s interest in striking a deal for the teenage centre-back. The reports state the deal will be a loan move rather than a permanent transfer. The 18-year-old has made one senior appearance for Man City and can also play at left-back. He came off the bench in the club’s 10-1 FA Cup third round win against Exeter City last season. Mfuni spent the second half of the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Watford in the Championship. And the teenager made eight appearances for the Hornets and had been in talks regarding a return to Vicarage Road. He has played for England up to under-19 level and scored in the FA Youth Cup final as City lifted the trophy in 2023/24. The left-footed defender featured on the bench three times for City in the UEFA Champions League last season. He also earned a spot on the bench in five Premier League games including both Manchester derby matches. Coventry travel to Man City on Saturday, September 5 in the club’s third game of the Premier League season.
