LAHORE - The Cantt Zone T20 Cricket Tournament will commence on September 10, with 39 affiliated clubs set to compete in a knockout format, the Cantt Zone Cricket Association an-nounced following a tournament committee meeting. The meeting was held at the conference room of the LCCA Cricket Ground under the chairmanship of Cantt Zone Cricket Association President Syed Mashhood Hussain Shirazi. Secretary Mirza Azmat Baig, Treasurer Khaliq Hussain Lodhi, Tournament Committee Chairman Abdul Majid Khan, Executive Com-mittee member M Owais Sarwar and committee members M Munir, Nadeem Ahmed and Shahid Khan attended. The committee reviewed arrangements for upcoming tournaments and measures to strengthen club cricket. It confirmed September 10 as the starting date for the T20 event, while the tournament draw has already been finalised. Details of the match schedule and draw will be announced in the coming days. Shirazi urged clubs that have yet to complete player registration to do so within the stipulated deadline to avoid any participation-related difficulties. He said the tournament aims to strengthen club cricket, provide young players with greater competitive opportunities and ensure equal chances for affiliated clubs. Shirazi added that the Cantt Zone remains committed to promoting grassroots cricket and nurturing young talent in line with the vision of Lahore Region Cricket Association President Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed.
