Halis Sunnetci 23 August 2026•Update: 23 August 2026 Bayern Munich retained the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund, securing the trophy for the second consecutive year. Nathaniel Brown and Michael Olise scored in the first half for Bayern, while Fabio Silva pulled one back for Dortmund in the 75th minute. Brown opened the scoring in the 28th minute on his competitive Bayern debut. Olise controlled a long pass from Joshua Kimmich inside the Dortmund area before laying the ball off to Brown, who finished low into the corner. Olise doubled Bayern’s advantage in first-half stoppage time. Kimmich intercepted a loose Dortmund throw-in before the ball reached Olise via Brown. The French forward drove past Ramy Bensebaini and into the penalty area before calmly finishing past goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Bayern dominated the opening half, registering 11 attempts to Dortmund’s one before halftime. Dortmund improved after the break and created several opportunities. Substitute Giannis Konstantelias saw an acrobatic effort blocked by Jonathan Tah in the 52nd minute, while Konstantinos Karetsas was denied by Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer one minute later. Dortmund reduced the deficit in the 75th minute. Konstantelias advanced before playing a reverse pass to Daniel Svensson on the left. Svensson then found substitute Silva, whose deflected effort beat Neuer to make it 2-1. Dortmund continued to push for an equalizer, but Bayern held firm. Olise was denied by Kobel in the 87th minute, while Silva headed straight at Neuer two minutes later. Dortmund’s hopes suffered another setback in the 90th minute when Bensebaini was shown a straight red card for a late challenge on Bayern substitute Ismael Saibari. Dortmund had a major opportunity to equalize in stoppage time when Waldemar Anton’s direct pass released substitute Maximilian Beier inside the area. Beier controlled the ball but, under late pressure from Tah, fired over from about 10 yards. Bayern held on to secure the trophy after defeating VfB Stuttgart 2-1 in last year’s edition. The victory gave Bayern the first silverware of the new season, one week before the Bundesliga campaign begins.
