New year, new team, same old Tottenham. Spurs came out flat from the opening kick at the Gtech Stadium against Brentford, a team that finished ninth last season, and conceded two goals in the first half while generating only 0.09 xG. It didn’t get much better afterwards — Mikey Moore showed flashes of brightness but for the most part Spurs looked like a collection of individual players who have never played together before.
