By AMANDA VINCENT Tyler Reddick ran a 29.054-second/131.094 mph lap around New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon during NASCAR Cup Series qualifying Saturday to claim the pole starting spot for Sunday’s Dollar Tree 301. It’s Reddick’s fifth pole of the season. “Oh man, I was really unhappy,” Reddick said of his practice run before qualifying. “I can’t recall a practice where I’ve complained like that, but yeah, I think we just figured out what we need to work on. Obviously, we have our things we want to work on for Sunday’s race.” Josh Berry qualified second to start alongside Reddick on the front row. “I thought we were a touch on the free side,” Berry said. “I really didn’t love my lap. I thought somebody would run in the 0.90s, for sure. I just got a little bit free in one and then in three and four I got a little it up on the seam and couldn’t quite finish four like I wanted. Overall, it was a good practice for us and, obviously, a great starting spot. We’re fighting hard right now, for sure. We’re making the most of this run with our car. It’s looking really strong, so I just want to thank everybody back at the Wood Brothers, Team Penske, Ford Racing, Motorcraft, Quick Lane. We’re fighting hard. It should be a good opportunity for us tomorrow.” William Byron qualified third and Denny Hamlin fourth for second-row spots on the race starting grid. Shane van Gisbergen rounded out the top-five in qualifying. Erik Jones turned in the fastest lap in the preceding practice session. Christopher Bell had the fastest 10-consecutive-lap-average. Bell qualified sixth and Jones 11th.
