RYAN Leonard has picked up a hamstring injury, Alex Neil said.
Leonard, 34, was absent from Millwall’s squad for Norwich City after starting the previous week at Bristol City. The Lions won the game 3-0.
“It’s a strange one again,” Neil said. “We’d trained on a Tuesday. Didn’t report anything. Had played; all the rest of everything was fine. Wednesday evening, he then sent Gaz [head of medical Garry Hemens] a text just saying, ‘My hamstring feels a little bit tight’. Came in the next day, got a scan; he’s got an injury.”
Asked how long he might be out, Neil said: “It’s not going to be soon.”
Millwall exercised the option on Ryan Leonard’s deal to extend his contract by a year over the summer. The right-back made 26 appearances in all competitions in the previous campaign, starting both legs of the play-off semi-finals against Hull City, which Millwall lost 2-0.
