Is Triple H’s WWE Job in Jeopardy?

Wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell recently shared his thoughts on Triple H’s role in WWE. Speaking on a recent edition of his “Story Time with Dutch Mantell” podcast, Mantell claimed that Hunter shouldn’t be held responsible for everything that goes wrong with the product. The veteran said, “Well, I think he’s (Triple H) safe in that job. See, the booker doesn’t control everything. He controls almost everything you see on TV. But he’s got a creative staff behind him. And I think you’ll see some creative members leaving before you see Triple H leave. I don’t think we can pin it down to it being all on him. I think he has a pretty good head on his shoulders for what needs to be done.” “He can’t do anything that the TKO board kind of agrees with. So, if he wants to do something, and somebody complaints to the TKO board or the board members, they can probably get that changed because that’s the last thing that Triple H wants to fight. Not only is the creative team, but also the people who are overseeing it. He’s in a tough spot.” Triple H Addressed Criticism During WWE SummerSlam 2026 During the SummerSlam 2026 post-show, Triple H issued a message to the next generation of WWE stars. He said, “If you’re the guy that wants to take the spot, it’s frustrating when there are guys above you that have the spot. We’re in a period of time where there are a lot of top performers in top spots that, over time, have earned those spots and are selling tickets and are incredibly popular. You really have to do something. The narrative of, ‘It’s my turn.’ There are no turns. That’s not how it works. You earn the spot. If somebody is getting over more than somebody else, we’d move that person into the spot and move the other person down.” “It’s not just crowd reaction. Are they going to be good in the spot? Are they going to hold up their end of the bargain or screw it up or make a mistake where we regret giving it to them? All those things are factored in. The right person in the right position. I love the fact that sometimes talent is frustrated; that means work harder. Get yourself there. Figure it out. I’ve seen a million talent succeed because of what they do, not because of storyline or creative. 99% of the time in this business, the person gets over and then gets the push.” “That’s how it’s supposed to work. You go do you, and then we follow it. Otherwise, most of the time, they will choke on it because it’s not what the fans believe in. If you want the spot, go take it! It’s all there for everybody to take. Whenever anybody says, ‘I don’t know why I’m not in that spot.’ Are you more over than Cody or Roman or Punk or Liv or IYO? Make those crowd reactions happen. Whatever you need to do. I love that mentality because it makes people work harder. If you’re not willing to work to get the spot, you shouldn’t have it anyway.”
