Celtic are not in the race to sign Farès Ghedjemis despite fresh reports online claiming the Hoops have submitted a €9 million offer to Frosinone.
However, CeltsAreHere understands the latest claims of a €9 million Celtic bid are not accurate.
Celtic are now considered “completely out of the race” for Ghedjemis and are pursuing other options instead.
Ghedjemis was a serious Celtic target in January, but the attacker opted to remain with Frosinone as they pushed for promotion.
The expectation at that stage was that Celtic could return for the 23-year-old in the summer, and the Hoops did maintain their interest.
Martin O’Neill even confirmed earlier this month that Celtic had a “very, very strong interest” in the winger following his impressive campaign in Italy.
Ghedjemis scored 15 goals and was named Serie B Player of the Season as Frosinone secured promotion, significantly increasing his value in the process.
Celtic instead moved elsewhere in the attacking areas and completed the signing of Haissem Hassan, another player O’Neill had identified before his impressive World Cup campaign.
CeltsAreHere understands there has been no such bid and Celtic are no longer pursuing the Frosinone attacker.
The Hoops have other areas of the squad to address before the transfer window closes, with midfield, left-back and goalkeeper among the positions under consideration.
Ghedjemis may yet move before the deadline, with interest elsewhere continuing, but Parkhead will not be his destination unless there is a major change in Celtic’s current position.
