An injury-ravaged Bradford Bulls fell a 62-10 defeat against Leigh Leopards last night.
Kurt Haggerty was forced into three changes from last week’s clash with Wigan Warriors – with Riley Dean, Leon Ruan and Ebon Scurr replacing Ryan Sutton, Zac Fulton and Phoenix Steinwede.
The first 10 minutes saw both sides go set for set before Caleb Aekins, who startd the game impressively, go off for a HIA, which he later passed.
In the 13th minute, the home side got on the board after a penalty and set restart got them within range. Robbie Mulhern took an inside ball from Liam Horne to crash over to the side of the posts.
Minutes later, another penalty for Leigh, this time for accidental offside, saw Adam Cook kick the Leopards two points further in front.
Joe Keyes was forced from the field of play midway through the half, with Caleb Aekins returning to the fold and Riley Dean moving into the halves.
In the 28th minute, we forced an error from Armstrong via the boot of Chris Atkin and the enthusiastic kick chase from Riley Dean – and we immediately profited from the scrum.
We worked the ball wide right and Waqa Blake was too powerful for the scrambling Leigh defence.
The Bulls’ joy was short lived as the home side were in for the second try minutes later, with Louis Brogan wrestling his way over after more penalties and set restarts got them in attacking territory.
More adversity followed at the break for Bradford, with Ethan Ryan forced off the field. Leon Ruan came on in his place, with Dan Russell moving into the centres and Luke Hooley onto the wing.
An error on the restart gave Leigh the perfect chance to extend their lead and they obliged through Innes Senior.
Lachlan Lam then dived over as the home side took advantage of the positional changes on our left edge following a break from deep.
Adam Cook then produced some individual magic for the first of two tries on his tally, before Senior got his second after a scrum.
Umyla Hanley got in on the act before a try before the impressive Ofahengaue scored on the back of a break.
Lam and Cook both got their second scores before a late try by Bradford’s Eliot Peposhi.
