Liverpool have submitted a second bid for Yankuba Minteh after their first offer was rejected immediately by Brighton and Hove Albion. A joint report from David Ornstein and James Pearce broke the news on Thursday. They claimed: “Brighton & Hove Albion have rejected a £50million ($68.1m) bid from Liverpool for winger Yankuba Minteh. The 22-year-old is currently recovering from surgery on a right leg injury sustained in a 3-0 friendly win at home to Roma earlier this month.” Then, on Friday, several journalists said that Liverpool were expected to send a second offer, which has now reportedly also been rejected. The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele reported that the Reds would return with a new bid in the next few days. As per @foday_manneh_ — paul joyce (@_pauljoyce) August 21, 2026 Liverpool seem to have little to worry about Minteh’s injury and subsequent surgery While Minteh may be injured with a hip problem that required surgery, there doesn’t seem to be much concern from Liverpool in terms of his recovery, given that they have now submitted two bids for the 22-year-old. To be fair, his injury history, via Transfermarkt, doesn’t suggest he is injury-prone: - Hip injury and surgery – 8 days and counting (2026/27 pre-season) - Hamstring injury – 9 days (2025/26) - Muscle injury – 28 days (2024/25) - Hamstring injury – 35 days (2023/24) Extrapolating from this data, Minteh has hopefully got his one injury per season out of the way early. Of course, this is not an exact science, but Liverpool expect him to return in eight weeks and not suffer any additional issues.
