Leeds United finally confirmed the signing of James Trafford on Thursday. United signed the goalkeeper for £40million plus add-ons. But more details regarding his move to Leeds were recently revealed by Fabrizio Romano. Romano has reported that Manchester City will receive 20% of any future profit for Trafford, as well as having matching rights on any potential deal regarding the goalkeeper in the future. Former Leeds player Archie Gray also left a comment, which read, “Good luck mate,” followed by a blue and yellow heart emoji. James Trafford signing still feels surreal For a generation of younger Leeds supporters, like myself, it’s the first time we have signed a player who we all know has genuine world-class ability. Obviously, Raphinha went on to become a world-class player following his move from Leeds to Barcelona, but the Brazilian was more of an unknown quantity after arriving from Rennes. In Trafford, every Leeds fan is fully aware of what we are signing. The 23-year-old is the heir to Jordan Pickford’s throne when it comes to being England’s number one, and if Trafford impresses in West Yorkshire next season, that transition could happen very soon. For as long as Trafford is a Leeds player, the 49ers can forget about needing to address the goalkeeper position when it comes to signing a first-choice shot-stopper. This alone makes Trafford worth every single penny.
