Kingston was set for a big opportunity as AEW continues its Continental Challenge Cup tournament. However, fans will now have to wait to see what comes next for him. Eddie Kingston is not cleared to compete on AEW Collision, Tony Khan reveals Tony Khan shared the update on August 21 during a live video ahead of ROH Death Before Dishonor. Kingston was originally scheduled to face Claudio Castagnoli in the Continental Challenge Cup quarterfinals on the August 22 episode of AEW Collision. Khan first explained that he had hoped Kingston would be able to compete at ROH Death Before Dishonor. He then explained that Kingston would not be able to compete as planned on Collision. “I had been hoping Eddie Kingston would be cleared to compete tonight here at Death Before Dishonor. Also, Eddie Kingston’s set to compete in the quarterfinals of the Continental Cup tomorrow. Eddie has a medical issue; the doctors will not clear him to wrestle. Thankfully, Eddie’s going to be okay, and I’m very, very glad about that,” Khan said. There is also no confirmed timeline for Kingston’s return, so his next wrestling appearance remains unclear. With Kingston unable to compete, Adam Priest and Daniel Garcia will now face each other at ROH Death Before Dishonor. The winner will take Kingston’s place in the Continental Challenge Cup and then face Castagnoli in the quarterfinals on AEW Collision. Garcia earned his spot in the replacement match by defeating Alec Price in ROH. Priest, meanwhile, recently scored a win over El Phantasmo.
