Former Florida right guard O'Cyrus Torrence has signed a four-year, $78.4 million with the Buffalo Bills, according to multiple reports. The deal, which comes with a guaranteed $46 million, makes Torrence the NFL's seventh-highest-paid guard. The Bills' head coach, Joe Brady, praised Torrence Friday, labeling him "one of the top guards in football," while quarterback Josh Allen echoed the sentiment, saying Torrence was deserving of the lucrative extension. "He deserves every penny," Allen told reporters Friday. "Cybo's just that guy on the team where you ask anybody, I don't think anybody could say a bad thing about O'Cyrus Torrence. And he's the ultimate teammate." The 26-year-old Torrence was selected No. 59 overall in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Bills, and he quickly became a mainstay in the team's offensive line. The former transfer from Louisiana has played in all 17 games in each of the previous three seasons, along with appearing in seven playoff games for the Bills. Torrence made the most of his lone season at Florida, earning Consensus All-American status, resulting in the transfer from Louisiana receiving a brick paver outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Torrence was the first Gators offensive guard to be named a Consensus All-American, and the 5th lineman in Florida history to receive the honor. He was named a First Team All-American by Sporting News, Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association and Walter Camp, and to the second team by the Football Writers Association of America. He was also named to the AP All-SEC First Team. The junior guard didn't allow a sack or commit a penalty during his lone season with the Gators, and he was widely projected to be one of the top interior offensive linemen available in the 2023 NFL Draft. His ascension and recent extension marks the latest step in what has been an impressive rise from the under-recruited Torrence, who opted to follow former UF head coach Billy Napier and several staff members from Louisiana to Gainesville ahead of the 2022 season. Torrence continued his string of dominant performances at the Southeastern Conference level, which validated Napier's initial evaluation of the Greensburg, Louisiana, native. "First of all, the guy is really instinctive when it comes to football. He's a quick learner. His first game of his college career, the starter in front of him got hurt, he's jogging out there in the first possession of the game and the rest is history. But, he's a really quick learner, great character, very unassuming," Napier said in 2022 of Torrence. "Kind of lives a simple life, from a small community in Louisiana. Guy is a great teammate, but ultimately the guy has traits. He has the measurables. He's 6-foot-five, 335 pounds. Plays with tremendous power and length. Good in the run game, can move people, but has also been outstanding in protection."
