Kenzie Morrison, the heavyweight son of the late former world champion Tommy Morrison, has revealed that he has been diagnosed with stomach cancer after spending the past month dealing with health problems. Morrison announced the devastating news from a hospital bed after undergoing a CAT scan following repeated problems with his stomach and back. The 36-year-old said doctors informed him of the diagnosis before sending him to Tulsa for further CT and MRI scans. “I’ve been kind of in and out of the hospital with some stomach issues and back problem for about a month,” Morrison explained in a Facebook video update. “Yesterday I went to go have a CAT scan done, and they came back and told me that I have stomach cancer.” Morrison said he was due to meet with a neurosurgeon regarding possible back surgery before speaking with an oncology team about the cancer. He did not suggest that the back problem was connected to his cancer diagnosis. Morrison Begins Cancer Battle Morrison has launched a GoFundMe as he prepares for treatment and mounting medical expenses. “I have recently been diagnosed with stomach cancer, and I now start the biggest battle of my life, and I’m gonna need your help,” Morrison wrote on the page. “We are working on transferring to a specialist program in Texas or Chicago. “Your help will mean the world to me and my family.” The fundraiser had already generated thousands of dollars within hours of being launched as supporters rallied around the Oklahoma heavyweight. Morrison also appealed for prayers while awaiting further information from his doctors. “I’ve never really been one to ask for prayers or anything like that when it comes to my situation, but this morning we’re asking y’all for some prayers and support for quick, easy surgery and hopefully fast, complete healing,” he said. On social media, Morrison added: “Keeping faith hope and getting ready for battle.” Another Blow for Morrison Morrison lost his father, former WBO heavyweight champion and Rocky V star Tommy Morrison, in 2013 when Kenzie was in his early twenties. He subsequently attempted to follow his father’s path through professional boxing alongside his brother Trey Lippe Morrison and compiled a 22-1-2 record with 20 knockouts. Morrison possessed the family’s considerable punching power but encountered injuries, inactivity and repeated difficulty securing the major opportunities he wanted. Eventually, he turned to bare-knuckle fighting. The move initially appeared capable of providing the momentum that had eluded him in boxing. Morrison demolished Alex Davis in just 63 seconds on his BKFC debut in June 2025 before setting his sights on bigger fights and publicly pursuing opponents including Jake Paul and Tommy Fury. The Morrison family had already endured another setback when Kenzie’s older brother Trey suffered injuries in a 2023 car wreck that left his boxing career in serious doubt. July Fight Fell Through Morrison was preparing to return at BKFC Liberty Brawl in Philadelphia on July 3 and went through training camp expecting to compete. The fight never happened after an opponent could not be secured for him. The lost opportunity and payday carry greater significance now that Morrison is facing medical expenses and seeking financial support for treatment. Weeks later, however, the search for another fighting opportunity has been replaced by something far more important. Morrison spent years trying to establish his own fighting career after following his famous father into the sport. That career is now on hold.
