Two-time Olympic champion Jade Jones eyed for fight with one of MMA’s all-time greats
Olympic Taekwondo champion Jade Jones is being targeted to face Cris Cyborg.
Jones had a stellar career in Taekwondo which at its peak saw her scoop gold medals at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
As of recently, she has launched a career in crossover boxing, joining KSI's Misfits and making a huge stamp.
Her two fights, including her most recent meeting with FederiKita, ended in brutal stoppage wins.
And she will return in another big clash against Power Slap champion Sheena Bathory for the Misfits Middleweight title in September.
Having started extremely brightly in another combat sports, Misfits chief Mams Taylor has been full of praise for the icon.
But his plan is for his new star to challenge MMA all-time great Cyborg in a boxing fight, that he is targeting by the start of 2027.
He told talkSPORT.com in an exclusive chat: "So I've been saying if she does win and she stays on this trajectory, I want her fighting Cyborg by the end of the year.
"Or maybe at the start of 2027, to be honest whenever it is feasible.
But I would like that to happen.
"And I think she's fully capable. And then look, this is for the 135 title, she becomes champion, defends it a few times successfully, I think she'll be more than ready for professional boxing."
Cyborg is set for her final bow in MMA this weekend on the PFL Tampa card, which is live on the talkSPORT Boxing YouTube channel in the UK.
But after her last PFL outing, the Brazilian is eyeing a big fight in the squared circle.
She has targeted Claressa Shields, but Jones likely has the lure and the profile to be a realistic option for the great, who has won titles in UFC, Bellator, PFL, Invicta FC and Strikeforce.
Jade Jones' next fight - a step up
But before any dream bout with Cyborg, Jones must navigate the powerful challenge that will be provided by Bathory.
So far she has passed each stage with flying colours, and Taylor believes a victory would leave the Welsh wizard in good stead to become a boxing superstar.
He continued: We saw her make her debut in boxing and she's a beast.
"So I wanted Jade to step up and, and test her out, but this is a different animal.
"And somehow someone who's primarily a kicker has understood the fundamentals of boxing with her movement and her distance management, which is incredible.

"Whoever wins that fight has a very bright future with Misfits.
"Let's just say that as it is a very competitive fight. But look, I've been saying about Jade, what I saw, it wasn't just the knockout that was impressive.
"It was the movement and the setup and the countering and her understanding of the fundamental distance management of combat sports. I think that made her very special."
