West Ham United women’s defender Ria Bose has been named in Lydia Bedford’s England U20 squad for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, with the tournament set to take place in Poland from 5-27 September. The call-up marks another significant step in Bose’s development on the international stage. Our No12 has been a regular part of the Young Lionesses set-up since receiving her first England U20 call-up in 2025, and she will now have the opportunity to represent her country at a major global tournament. England have been drawn in Group B alongside Brazil, Tanzania and Canada, with all three of their group-stage fixtures set to take place at Stadion Miejski in Bielsko-Biała. The Young Lionesses will open their campaign against Canada on Saturday 5 September, with kick-off at 5pm BST, before facing Tanzania at the same time on Tuesday 8 September. They will round off the group stage against Brazil on Friday 11 September, with that fixture getting under way at 2pm BST. Before heading to Poland, England will have one final opportunity to prepare for the tournament when they face New Caledonia in a World Cup send-off friendly at St George’s Park on Saturday 29 August, with kick-off at 1pm BST. England’s best finish at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup came in 2018, when they reached the third-place play-off, and Bose will now be hoping to play her part as the Young Lionesses look to make another deep run on the world stage. Everyone at West Ham United congratulates Ria on her selection and wishes her and the Young Lionesses every success in Poland! * Something to say about this story?
