Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko has declined an opportunity to change his jersey number. Sesko moved to Old Trafford from RB Leipzig for an initial fee of £66.3 million last summer. The Slovenian wore No. 30 during his debut campaign, but the possibility of switching to the No.9 shirt was reportedly discussed this summer. According to The Athletic, Sesko opted to keep his current number, having also worn No. 30 during his time at RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg. The No. 9 shirt became available after Rasmus Hojlund completed his permanent move to Napoli this summer. Marcus Rashford wore the No. 9 jersey when he returned to action against AC Milan in United’s final friendly of the summer. The club are yet to confirm whether the 28-year-old will retain the number for the upcoming campaign. Rashford has recently been tipped to take the No.14 shirt, which was previously worn by Christian Eriksen and Jesse Lingard. Sesko enjoyed a superb maiden season at Old Trafford, netting 12 goals, including 11 in the Premier League. The 23-year-old forward missed all six pre-season matches while recovering from a shin injury. However, head coach Michael Carrick provided a major boost on Thursday by confirming that Sesko has returned to training and could feature in the Premier League curtain-raiser against Hull City on Saturday. We expect Bryan Mbeumo to lead the attack tomorrow but Sesko could make an appearance in the second half.
