A Celtic prospect who featured in pre-season squads is set to join a Scottish Championship club on loan for the rest of the season. Jude Bonnar looks set to complete the switch from Celtic B to Arbroath, with the midfielder having been training with David Gold and Colin Hamilton’s squad this week, according to Record Sport. Bonnar is eager for more regular minutes and valuable first-team experience as he continues his development. The 20-year-old travelled to Ireland and Portugal with the senior squad for their pre-season tests against Shelbourne and Sporting CP. He didn’t get any minutes on the park, but the experience likely still benefited him. The Celtic starlet enjoyed a successful loan spell at Ayr United last season, where Scott Brown was his manager until March before departing the club. Bonnar made 30 appearances in all competitions and looks set for another season in Scotland’s second tier, this time with the Red Lichties, who finished third last campaign. A loan move to a superior level will benefit him as opposed to a stint in the Lowland League West. Bonnar reportedly had a number of options but has been convinced that Arbroath is the right step to aid his progress. They lost to Ayr in their opening Championship match of the new season before a goalless draw with Inverness. They now hope to strike a deal so that the Hoops prospect is eligible for their league fixture at Greenock Morton this Saturday.
