Blake Monroe has revealed that she turned down two opportunities to appear on Love Island.
WWE star turned down Love Island twice
A former NXT champion said she was approached by the show on two occasions.
The WWE star made the admission during a recent interview with TMZ’s Inside the Ring podcast, saying that if she had been on the hit reality show, she would “probably get kicked off pretty much instantly.”
The topic came up after host Branson Quirke remarked: “I think you would do very well on a variety of reality shows. So, specifically maybe like Love Island, things like that.”
“I am insane. I could never, ever…I got asked to do Love Island many, many years ago and didn’t do it. Then I got asked again, and I thought about it, but I realized I’m crazy,” Monroe responded.
She continued: “I feel like if you’re on a show to find love…I feel like people go on to build a career. If you actually did go on to find love, and you like a guy and you’re getting on, and then they do those challenges where they’re eating each other and making out with your friends. I’m not sitting there for that. I don’t share so, I don’t think it would be for me. I don’t know.”
“This is exactly why you should be on Love Island,” Quirk interjected.
“It would be short and sweet,” the former NXT Women’s North American Champion said. ”I’d probably get kicked off pretty much instantly. But, yeah, I could see that.”
Quirk followed up with another dating-related question by asking if the wrestling backstage scene is “a good place to meet somebody.“
“Don’t date wrestlers,” Monroe quickly answered, before admitting that she herself might break that rule.
The Glamour added: “Just don’t date them [wrestlers], because I think the reason wrestlers date each other is because nobody understands our schedule and our business. Like, you’re on the road a lot. What we do is a little provocative, and you kind of have to sell almost yourself. So, I feel like a lot of guys would get jealous if their girl was doing that, and a lot of women might find it hard…It’s like dating, I guess, an NBA player or whatever.”
What do you think, Cagesiders? Would you like to see Blake on Love Island? Who else would you fantasy book on a show, and which show would you choose? Sound off in the comments.
