WWE has made another notable move involving SmackDown star Giulia. The wrestling promotion filed a fresh trademark application for her ring name just days after her latest in-ring appearance.
While the filing doesn’t reveal any immediate creative plans, it adds another layer to the company’s continued protection of one of its established stars.
The trademark application was filed on Aug. 18 and covers a broad range of entertainment-related services, making it a development worth keeping an eye on rather than something to immediately ring the bell over.
WWE files new trademark for Giulia ahead of SmackDown appearance
According to Fightful, WWE filed a new trademark for “Giulia” under International Class 041. The filing covers wrestling exhibitions and performances, television and online broadcasts, wrestling news and information, sports entertainment websites, fan club services, social entertainment events, online newsletters, and blogs related to sports entertainment.
This isn’t the first time WWE has secured the name. The company originally filed a trademark for “Giulia” in Sept. 2024 shortly after she joined WWE. The latest application appears to reinforce that protection rather than introduce a new identity.
Giulia last wrestled on Aug. 14 during a WWE Main Event taping, where she came up short against Michin. Her most recent televised bout saw her face Lash Legend in a qualifying match for the Interim WWE Women’s Championship Ladder Match at SummerSlam.
The timing of the filing is also notable, with Giulia set to face Blake Monroe in Monroe’s WWE debut match on SmackDown. However, the trademark filing itself does not indicate any storyline changes or character implications.
For now, WWE’s latest legal move simply ensures continued ownership of Giulia’s ring name for entertainment-related purposes. Fans will now turn their attention back to SmackDown to see what’s next for the former Women’s United States Champion.
