Former NFL player says he lost his entire life savings in scam targeting professional athletes ATLANTA (ANF/Gray News) — A former NFL and University of Georgia player says he has been scammed out of his entire life savings. Tae Crowder was drafted by the New York Giants in 2020, where he spent three years with the team following a college career playing linebacker for the Bulldogs from 2015 to 2019. However, Crowder says he is now sharing his story about losing $500,000 to scammers. Crowder said he lost his life savings by investing in an alleged e-commerce scheme that targeted professional athletes. The former professional linebacker has also launched a GoFundMe to help rebuild his life. “What matters most to me is being able to move forward and regain a sense of security after this loss,” Crowder shared. “Every donation, no matter the amount, will help me take an important step forward during this difficult time.” Authorities said no charges have been filed in the reported fraud scheme, noting the alleged suspect was found dead last month in New Jersey.
