Honiara volleyball league rescheduled

BY ELTON LONARATHA JNR In Hamilton, NZ THE 2026 Honiara Volleyball League (HVL), originally scheduled to kick off this weekend, has been postponed and will now begin next month. The new opening date has been set for Sunday, September 6, with clubs urged to continue their preparations ahead of the competition. Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation (SIVF) President, Morris Maitaki, confirmed the revised date, saying the decision followed discussions with the Honiara Volleyball Association (HVA) president and secretary. “Once all formalities are confirmed, we will send out a notice to all Honiara clubs,” Maitaki said. He also urges clubs to remain prepared for the upcoming Honiara Championships League. “Please get prepared to participate in the upcoming Honiara Championships League, which will kick off in the first week of next month,” he said. The entry fee has been set at $1,000 per team, with both the men’s and women’s competitions expected to be played in pools. Ten clubs have been confirmed for the 2026 HVL: Rainbow, Avaiki Southerns, Ma’anu, Honiara Blazers, Lakers, Atolls, SINU, East Honiara, Taina and Soa United.
