Damascus, Aug. 21 (SANA) The 20th edition of the Mediterranean Games will kick off Friday in the Italian city of Taranto and continue until September 3, with the participation of around 4,000 athletes from 26 countries competing in 33 sports. Syria is taking part in the games with 28 male and female athletes competing in eight sports, while members of the Syrian delegation have begun arriving in Italy according to the schedule set for each team. The first group of the Syrian delegation left on Wednesday, including the cycling team comprising coach Mohammad Alayeh, administrator Ibtisam Hassan, and athletes Miran al-Fares and Hala Zidan. The Syrian delegation’s leadership arrived in Italy earlier this week to prepare for receiving the athletes and organizing their accommodation and movements according to the approved schedule. MHD
