The Denver Broncos have one of the NFL's best defenses, thanks in large part to their elite defensive line and cornerback room. But their safety room isn't one to be slept on. Talanoa Hufanga and Brandon Jones are a pair of nice starting safeties. The only question mark might be their depth, though that's reportedly just been fixed. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Broncos are reportedly signing Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams safety Taylor Rapp to a contract. The veteran safety joins the Broncos' stacked defense, providing more quality options in the secondary for Denver. Rapp will likely slide in right behind Hufanga and Jones, competing with JL Skinner, Devon Key, Miles Scott, Tycen Anderson, and Parker Robertson for a depth safety job. The 28-year-old safety was a former second-round pick, No. 61 overall, back in 2019 for the Rams. He helped them win a Super Bowl in 2021, as he recorded four interceptions that season for the best year of his NFL career. He played in just six games last season for the Bills, but across the past seven seasons, he's played in 92 games, starting 72 of them. In pass coverage, he's allowed a 91.0 passer rating for his career, with a 78.6 rating last season, but a 109.2 in 2024. Rapp is an interesting depth piece for the Broncos' secondary and should provide upside down the depth chart, while also being a quality starter if needed due to an injury. This is a simple but quality roster move for the Broncos ahead of Week 2 of the preseason.
