Dundee United can today confirm young defender Charlie Dewar has joined William Hill Championship side Arbroath on loan until the end of the season. The academy graduate heads to Gayfield after enjoying a successful loan spell with Alloa Athletic last season, where he gained valuable first-team experience with a series of impressive performances in the back line for the Wasps. Dewar will link up with fellow Dundee United youngster Scott Constable at The Red Lichties as he looks to continue his development with regular Championship football throughout the 2026/27 campaign. Jim Goodwin spoke on Dewar's temporary switch: "I'm really pleased for Charlie and excited to see how he performs for Arbroath this season. He had an excellent loan spell with Alloa Athletic last campaign, and we felt that a move to the Championship was the natural next step in his development. "Arbroath are a strong side at this level, and they'll provide Charlie with another great opportunity to test himself in a competitive environment. Scott Constable is already there as well, so it'll be good to see how they both get on over the course of the campaign.
