Finley Barbrook joins Falkirk on loan from Ipswich Town John McGlynn reckons Ipswich Town loan signing is perfect fit for Falkirk. John McGlynn reckons new loan signing Finley Barbrook is the perfect fit for Falkirk after finally being able to bring in one of his main summer targets. The midfielder, 21, has joined the Bairns on a season-long loan deal from Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Premiership trip to Motherwell. And manager McGlynn has been playing a waiting game to get the defensive-minded “all-rounder” up north. Barbrook has been part of Gary O'Neil’s squad in pre-season, heading off to Spain for a training camp before playing in the team’s recent friendlies. But his move to Falkirk has now been sanctioned with the midfielder now looking to make his debut in Navy Blue at Fir Park. John McGlynn hails new Falkirk loan signing “He’s one we’ve been chasing for some time, so we’re delighted to have him here,” McGlynn beamed. “He’s a 21-year-old central midfield player who’s 6ft 2in, and we’ve been crying out for someone with that kind of stature in our midfield. “We’ve had him on the radar for some time. We would have liked to have got him here a little bit quicker. We’d like to thank everyone at Ipswich. Danny Searle, the loan manager, and Rudy Gestede have been different class. “We’ve been needing someone exactly like him. That’s why we’ve been so patient.” Barbrook spent the second half of last season on loan at EFL League Two side Colchester United making 16 appearances and scoring once. The Englishman has also spent time with Chelmsford City, Sutton United, Lincoln City and Colchester United having risen through the academy ranks at Ipswich Town. McGlynn added: “He’s had loans at the likes of Mansfield and Lincoln, and it is a big bonus that he has been out on loan already. The first loan can be tricky but that isn’t the case. “He is a good player. He can take care of the ball. He’s an all-rounder. He can take the ball deep, he can make passes, he is athletic and can get about the pitch. The size of him, the physicality, is something that we have been trying to find. “You want to find that without losing the quality. Sometimes you go bigger and they can’t do the things the tiny wee guy can do. But Finley is well balanced.”
