Good morning, New York Giants fans! Here are the stories you need to as the Giants hold a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins today. NY Giants news: Daniel Faalele trade fallout, joint practice, more New York Giants headlines for Thursday Edge matchups in one-on-one periods. Miami head coach Jeff Hafley made no secret of what he wants to evaluate. He wants to see how his offensive linemen handle the Giants’ edge rushers in individual work. Those periods tend to be among the most revealing of any joint practice. For New York, it is a chance to watch Abdul Carter and the rest of the pass-rush group attack a different set of blockers under competitive conditions. Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. was first up at running back on Tuesday. He’s still squarely in the Giants plans even with the signing of Najee Harris. Tracy and Cam Skattebo have both been the first running back up throughout training camp. Harbaugh seemed to indicate he expects it to take a “couple weeks” before Harris gets into football shape. The veteran running back did only individual drills on Tuesday. The Giants worked on a lot of red zone and short-yardage situations on Tuesday. Dart’s running was a big part of the practice. Watching the force Reese plays with can make it easy to forget that the 6-foot-4, 243-pounder is only 20 years old. His power has seamlessly transitioned to the NFL. “My strength translates, for sure,” Reese said. “Just having that same approach — that’s what I did in high school. When I got to college, that’s what I was looking forward to doing. I was like, ‘I’m going to have to keep this up.’ Now that I’m here, I’m looking forward to still being able to do that. I wasn’t looking to get here and be like, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’ I’m trying to keep doing it.” New York Giants: Tyler Nubin. Nubin put together a promising rookie season in 2024, earning a 65.8 PFF grade across 789 snaps. His overall production dipped in Year 2, though he did improve in coverage, raising his PFF coverage grade from 58.1 to 60.0. Entering his third NFL season, don’t be surprised if Nubin generates more buzz, particularly if he can recapture the level of run defense he showed as a rookie. It felt like far too many analysts dismissed Abdul Carter after it took time for the pass rusher to kick it into gear. In the final five games of 2025, the rookie generated 3.5 sacks and averaged 5.8 QB pressures per tilt, per Next Gen Stats. Carter’s speed and bend can make him a difference-making weapon in a retooled Giants defense. In new DC Dennard Wilson’s scheme, with better surroundings, the 22-year-old is primed for a leap year. Believe your eyes. If you look at the Giants’ offense and think “this needs plenty of work,” go with that. You are onto something. Continuity is great for a young quarterback. Eli Manning had it. Jaxson Dart does not. It’s quite a challenge with a new head coach, new offensive coordinator, new quarterbacks coach and brand new playbook. Boomer baffled by backlash around Dart’s return to play in preseason game No, the answer is to treat other quarterbacks the same way the NFL treats Dart, not to stop treating Dart the way the league does now—which is with a degree of common sense. Two of those plays above, with Dart’s reaction included, should have triggered concussion protocol for almost any passer in the NFL. From there, the additional registered concussion Dart sustained—which was, according to then head coach Brian Daboll, set in motion by an instance on the sideline that was glaring enough to trigger an immediate review—should place Dart under tighter scrutiny, just like there should be precious little tolerance for Tua Tagovailoa to avoid concussion checks after a horrific series of hits to the head.
