Sunderland academy keeper set for historic appearance after sealing Hebburn Town loan return Hebburn Town have completed the loan signing of Sunderland academy goalkeeper Isaac Allan. Sunderland have confirmed highly-rated academy goalkeeper Isaac Allan has returned to National League North newcomers Hebburn Town on loan until January. The 20-year-old stopper initially joined the Hornets on loan in March as they prepared for the climax of what would become a successful push for the Northern Premier League Premier Division title. Allan produced a number of impressive performances for Daniel Moore’s side as they moved to within touching distance of a historic promotion and was in their side for a 2-1 win at Bamber Bridge in the penultimate game of the campaign. A sickness bug with the Academy of Light ranks saw the youngster recalled and former South Shields keeper Callum Dobson stepped in for the title-clinching home win against Rushall Olympic seven days later. However, Moore remained keen to secure Allan’s services once again as Hebburn prepared for their first ever season in the second tier of the non-league game - and the Hornets’ boss is relishing the opportunity to work with the Black Cats prospect during the first half of the campaign. Speaking ahead of Saturday’s historic home game with Southport, the Hornets boss said: “Isaac, it was a weird one losing him after the game when we needed to win the last game of the season a week later. Callum came in and did well for us and he’s done well in pre-season - but I believe Isaac has a real future in the game and to have him here with us is a massive thing for us as a squad, as staff. He brings a calm leadership about him, which is rare for a young goalkeeper. So we are really excited to be working with him again, we are glad to have him back and we thank Sunderland for trusting us with him against.” Hornets keeper coach Carl Morris added: "Bringing Isaac back was something we were really keen to do. He made a positive impact during his time with us last season and showed he has the quality and mentality to perform at senior level. He’s a goalkeeper with a bright future ahead of him, and we’re looking forward to helping him take the next step in the National League North."
