COVENTRY City’s October Premier League fixtures against Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have been selected for live television coverage by Sky Sports. Both fixtures fall after the extended international break which begins towards the end of September and ends in mid-October. The Sky Blues will now host Newcastle United on Monday, October 12. Kick-off is at 8pm at the Coventry Building Society Arena. Broadcast purposes means the fixture, initially scheduled for October 10, has moved. Coventry have not played Newcastle since February 2010 when the Sky Blues suffered a 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park. The Sky Blues last beat Newcastle in October 1999 as Carlton Palmer, Paul Williams, Robbie Keane and Mustapha Hadji all found the net for Coventry in a 4-1 success in the Premier League. Newcastle finished 12th in the top flight last season and have replaced former boss Eddie Howe with Matthias Jaissle during the off-season. Coventry’s game against Tottenham will now take place on Monday, October 19. Kick-off is at 8pm at the Sky Blues make their first-ever trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Broadcast purposes means the fixture, initially scheduled for October 17, has moved. The two teams met as recently as the 2024/25 season as Spurs scored two late goals in a 2-1 Carabao Cup victory. However, the last league meeting between the sides came back in March 2001 as Tottenham secured a 3-0 victory in the Premier League. Spurs finished 17th in the top flight last season, only securing safety from relegation on the final day of the season. The club have spent more than £200million in the summer transfer window after signing Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. Sky will broadcast both matches live on their Monday Night Football programme.
