The Philadelphia Phillies have been playing extremely well since the trade deadline passed. They have won 11 of their last 16 games, including a six-game winning streak. The arrival of Luis Arraez has helped their offense reach heights it's never seen this year. A key reason for their success is Bryce Harper's move back to the outfield. Harper was moved back to the outfield after the Phillies acquired arraez. The new second baseman heaped praise on his teammate for being the ultimate team player, saying that he hasthe utmost respect for the former MVP. “Especially Harper going to right field, that’s a lot of respect, especially for me.” – Luis Arraez re-emphasizes his appreciation for Bryce Harper when asked about the Phillies defense since his arrival (via @dan_wilson4) pic.twitter.com/zI5NykJuDl — SPORTSRADIO 94WIP (@SportsRadioWIP) August 20, 2026 Harper was a right fielder for most of his career even before arriving in Philadelphia. However, he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2022 to repair his elbow. Since then, the Phillies star has remained in first base or as a designated hiter to cover for his presumably weaker arm. Playing in first base allows Harper to stay in the lineup without using his throwing arm too much. With Arraez's arrival, though, the Phillies had to significantly change up their infield. The multi-time hits leader played second base for all of his career, and Philadelphia kept him there. Instead, they moved third baseman Alec Bohm to first base and second baseman Bryson Stott to third base. Harper agreed to move back to the outfield, a move that brings significant challenges to the star. “I mean, I've said in years past, I mean, I know everybody thinks it's crap when I say it, but it's not,” Harper said folowing the announcement of the Arraez trade. “I think any chance that we have an opportunity to win, I'd do anything for this organization, and they know that. So I texted Dave late last night and told him, hey, if anything pops up, make the move, and we'll see what happens.” The Phillies have long knocked on the door of a World Series win. Will Arraez's arrival and Harper's sacrifice be the catalyst to win that elusive title?
