The Brisbane Broncos Game Development program and Broncos Club have strengthened their long-standing relationship, extending their Community Game Development Partnership through to the end of 2029. The renewed partnership will see Broncos Club continue its support of Game Development, helping to grow rugby league at the grassroots level and create positive opportunities for young participants across Brisbane’s central region. Former Bronco Jharal Yow Yeh is the central figure of the program, working closely with local schools and clubs to deliver initiatives focused on coach and teacher education, skill development clinics, and life skills mentoring sessions. For Yow Yeh, the program has grown to mean so much more than what happens on the football field. It’s also about teaching kids to be good people off it. Jharal Yow Yeh Broncos' Development Officer That focus extends beyond rugby league skills, with the program also delivering leadership and personal branding initiatives, as well as the All-Abilities Program, which delivers inclusive rugby league training sessions and game-day experiences for students from Red Hill, Mitchelton and Aspley Special Schools. Broncos Head of Game Development and NRLW Paul Dyer said the continued partnership with the Broncos Club would help the program make an even greater impact across the community. It’s a fantastic initiative supporting grassroots rugby league in the region, but more importantly, supporting young people with the skills they need away from the field to give them a positive vision for the future. "It’s not just about producing more players - it’s equally important to us that we help develop better people for this region.” Broncos Club CEO Tom Streater said the Club was proud to continue its long-standing relationship with the Broncos, which dates back to 1988, particularly through its support of the Game Development program. “We’re especially proud of sponsoring Jharal Yow Yeh’s Community Game Development Program and the work Jharal does in our local area getting kids involved in sports and providing education about health, wellbeing, leadership and good choices,” Streater said. “We’re thrilled to sign on for three more years and ensure that Jharal is out there in schools and junior clubs providing kids with opportunities for participation and connection.” For Yow Yeh, the opportunity to lead the program has also allowed him to remain connected to the game that has played such a significant role in his life. “I’m just lucky that I’ve been given an opportunity as a job to still work in the game that’s given me so much,” he said. “I wouldn’t be in this role without Paul Dyer and the support of our Game Development team – Jack Reed, Michael Hancock, Michael DeVere, James Geurtjens and Darren Burns. “I’d also like to thank Tom and the Broncos Club board for their trust and commitment, as well as Dave Donaghy and the team at the Broncos.”
