Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints are going into the 2026 season trying to turn around a franchise that has fallen on hard times. The franchise has not made the playoffs or won the division since 2020 and the team still seems to be searching for their next franchise quarterback. In the meantime, Kamara will likely be asked to do more for the offense.
Unfortunately, Alvin Kamara suffered a brutal injury less than one month before the season. Here are the details.

Saints’ Running Back Alvin Kamara Out With Injury – Details
ESPN reports Saints five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara will miss at least one month due to a sprained MCL that he suffered in Tuesday’s joint practice with the Cowboys.
Kamara will miss Week 1 for only the second time in his career as the Saints kick off their season against the Lions 25 days from now. As of now, the Saints’ game against the Ravens in Week 2 is 32 days away.
With Travis Etienne Jr.’s four-year, $48 million deal signed in March, Kamara, 31, will have a reduced role this fall after a disappointing season.
As a result of a knee injury, Kamara played in just 11 games last season. It was his first time under 1,000 yards from scrimmage and he scored just one touchdown. He also finished with career lows in most major statistical categories.
Kamara will still play key snaps, especially in passing situations, as he was listed as a co-starter on New Orleans‘ first preseason depth chart. Kamara’s absence will lead the Saints to turn to Kendre Miller and Devin Neal.
Kamara’s knee injury is the second major injury to the Saints’ offense this preseason after wide receiver Jordyn Tyson was injured and will miss least two months because of a hamstring injury.
