Dragons enforcer to link up with new club; Broncos superstar’s shock World Cup reveal — Daily
Dragons forward Luciano Leilua will join the Super League from next season after inking a three-year deal with Catalans.
The barnstorming edge forward requested an early release from St. George-Illawarra back before the June 30 transfer deadline, but that was denied.
Leilua had previously been linked to a move to the Broncos and Perth Bears.

However, the 30-year-old will instead head to the south of France to continue his career.
Leilua hasn’t seen the field at NRL level since a Round 20 loss to the Warriors.
He’s been named on the extended reserves for this weekend’s clash against the Bulldogs.
Leilua will join a Catalans side for 2027 that includes Jesse Arthars, Toby Sexton, Nick Cotric, Lewis Dodd.
HUGE WORLD CUP BLOW AS DEFECTING BRONCOS SUPERSTAR OPTS OUT
Payne Haas won’t take part in this year’s World Cup with the superstar prop set to undergo hand surgery at the end of the NRL season.
According to CODE Sports, Haas has been playing hurt but will continue toughing it out for the rest of the season in what will be his final few games with the Broncos before heading to South Sydney.
However, it’s believed he has elected to undergo the required surgery at the end of the regular season instead of pushing through what will likely be a brutal month-long World Cup campaign for Samoa.
Payne has had a finger injury for a little while and he’s been bravely playing on,” Broncos coach Michael Maguire revealed to CODE.
“I guess it’s up to him whether he wants to play in the World Cup but at some stage he will need surgery. It’s been bothering him so he definitely needs an operation.”
Haas flipped his Test allegiances from Australia to Samoa before last year’s Pacific Championships, doing so in order to represent his mother’s heritage.
There were talks earlier this year that Haas was considering a shock move back to the Kangaroos for the World Cup, but the gun forward quickly dispeled those rumours.
“I want to represent my mum, my grandmother and my grandad as well, and there is no way in hell that I would do that,” Haas said.
The Broncos have a date with Canberra this Friday before finishing the season with games against the Storm and Bulldogs.
