NFL Canada and the Seattle Seahawks are giving football fans in the Lower Mainland a chance to see the Vince Lombardi Trophy up close and personal this weekend. On Aug. 22-23, the NFL Experience, which is being described as an interactive football theme park, will take over space at the PNE grounds. The NFL Experience will be located across from the Freedom Mobile Arch, and feature an immersive video environment designed to give fans the feeling of being inside of an NFL game. “Canadian fans have shown us again and again how much they love this game, and this is our chance to bring that energy to life at one of Western Canada’s biggest summer gathering spots,” said NFL Canada general manager Gavin Kemp in a statement. No Seahawks players are advertised for the event, but fairgoers will be able to meet with Seahawks mascot, Blitz, as well as the Seahawks cheerleading team. Fans can also queue up for a chance to have their photo taken with the Lombardi Trophy. This event will also include a dedicated Fan Zone, where people can play interactive games, take photos and enjoy extra on-site surprises from the NFL Canada OnePass app. “The PNE is where Vancouver comes together every year, and we wanted the NFL to be part of that moment,” Kemp says. The Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl 60 back in February, when they defeated the New England Patriots 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The NFL regular season will begin a rematch between those two teams on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at Lumen Field in Seattle. That game will be available to watch on CTV and Crave. Crave, CTV and CTV News are owned by Bell Media, which is a subsidiary of BCE Inc.
