Longview’s King makes NFL debut, scores game-winning touchdown for Panthers CANTON, Ohio (KLTV) - Former Longview Lobo Haynes King made his NFL debut Thursday night for the Carolina Panthers in the annual Hall of Fame game against the Arizona Cardinals in Canton, Ohio. King and the Panthers got the ball back with 1:55 remaining in the game, trailing 30-27. With two seconds left in the game and the Panthers on the Cardinals’ five-yard line, King scrambled and found the end zone as time expired to give the Panthers a 33-30 win. King entered the game in the second quarter after Kenny Pickett started the game. In his first series, King engineered a 12-play 65-yard drive that was capped with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ja’seem Reed. King finished the game 21-of-34 for 180 yards and two touchdowns through the air. He also had three carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. In the fourth quarter, King and the Panthers drove 68 yards in 13 plays. King ended the drive with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Tyus III. King played six series, with every series but one ending in points for the Panthers (three touchdowns, two field goals, one turnover). For Arizona, Tyler High’s Kitan Crawford recorded one tackle. The Panthers’ next preseason game will be Aug. 15 in Buffalo against the Bills. The Cardinals travel to Las Vegas for their next preseason game against the Raiders on Aug. 13. Copyright 2026 KLTV.
