The Freedom 250 Grand Prix is scheduled to take place on the streets of Washington, DC, as one of the biggest races of the year. The event will take place on August 23, will utilize a 1.7-mile street circuit, and will incorporate part of Pennsylvania Avenue, taking racers past iconic Washington landmarks, including the US Capitol Building. On Tuesday, the New York Post reported that United States President Donald Trump and his motorcade would be taking an honorary lap around the circuit before the event started. White House spokesman Davis Ingle confirmed the news to OutKick and Fox News Digital via a statement. “President Trump is ensuring America gets the spectacular birthday it deserves as we celebrate our 250th anniversary,” Ingle said. “The historic IndyCar race set to take place in our Nation’s Capital will be one of the greatest and most iconic races in history. “The President will leave his imprint on this historic race in a way that only he can.” “Toddler in Chief” Many of Trump’s constituents on social media took exception not just to Trump’s planned lap but also to his decision to hold the Grand Prix at all. “More waste of taxpayer money to entertain the toddler in chief,” one person posted on X. “How does that help cost of food fuel and healthcare? This is what he should be concentrating on. Not vanity projects,” someone else added. “We don’t care about this. Your priority should be to make life better for the citizens of the nation you oversee. TRUMP: ‘I will bring the cost of everything way down!’ We’ve seen a significant RISE in costs across the board,” another person wrote. Many of Trump’s policies and decisions in his second term have raised serious questions for even some of his staunchest supporters. Hopefully, after this weekend’s escapades, the President will get back to focusing on how to improve things for everyday Americans.
