Major League Volleyball reveals new conference format ahead of 2027 season Omaha Supernovas will compete in the Western Conference OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Omaha Supernovas, who compete in Major League Volleyball, will see a new league format in 2027. MLV is announcing a 26-match regular-season schedule and a two-conference alignment as it expands to 12 teams. The league says the new format will create a more balanced schedule while strengthening regional rivalries and adding another layer of competition to the regular season. MLV’s 12 teams will be divided into Eastern and Western Conferences: - Eastern Conference: Atlanta, Columbus, DC, Grand Rapids, Indy and Orlando - Western Conference: Dallas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Northern California, Omaha and Vegas “Adding four teams and shifting to a conference structure changes everything for us,” said Major League Volleyball Commissioner Jaime Weston. “Expanding into these incredible sports markets allows us to create genuine rivalries, energize an exciting postseason race and provide fans with the best volleyball in the country.” Under the new format, every team will face all 11 league opponents twice during the regular season, once at home and once on the road, for 22 matches. The remaining four matches will come against teams within each club’s conference. Each team will face four of its five conference opponents, with the conference matchup it misses rotating from year to year. “Our players thrive on high-stakes competition,” Weston said, “and this 26-match format delivers the world-class stage both our athletes and supporters deserve.” MLV is expected to announce additional details, including the complete 2027 regular-season schedule and postseason format, in the coming months.
