Former Trabzonspor player Emre Güral has explained how Mohamed Salah’s arrival at the Turkish club could benefit Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu, insisting the presence of the Egyptian forward will create more opportunities for the tall striker. Salah joined Trabzonspor after leaving Liverpool, bringing his experience and attacking quality to the squad, while Onuachu remains one of the club’s main attacking options. Güral believes opponents will have to pay more attention to Salah, which could allow Onuachu to operate with more freedom in the final third. The former Trabzonspor forward explained that Onuachu’s role could change because defenders will be forced to focus on stopping Salah’s attacking threat. “Paul Onuachu will now receive the ball in a much different way and create different positions. Onuachu will create more space because the opposing team's players will focus on Mohamed Salah. Onuachu is a very good striker with consistency in scoring goals,” Güral said, as quoted by Turkiyegazetesi. He added that having a player of Salah’s quality could help Onuachu find better scoring opportunities, as opponents would need to make difficult decisions when defending against Trabzonspor’s attacking players. “So, if he finds a little more space thanks to Salah, he can score many different goals. A player like Salah is a plus for any team. When Salah attacks, the opposing team will be forced to try to take precautions. Otherwise, Salah will finish the match himself. I think that if precautions are taken against Salah, players like Onuachu will find more space,” he added. Onuachu returned to Trabzonspor on a permanent deal after an impressive loan spell and has since established himself as a key figure in the club's attack. The Nigerian striker enjoyed an outstanding 2025–26 campaign, finishing as the Turkish Süper Lig's joint top scorer with 22 goals, while his physical presence, clinical finishing and aerial dominance have made him one of Trabzonspor's most influential players. With Salah now expected to provide creativity and a major attacking threat, Güral believes the combination could make Trabzonspor more dangerous, as opposition defenders will have to decide whether to prioritise stopping the Egyptian winger or limiting Onuachu’s influence in front of goal.
