Zilla Fatu paid tribute to The Rock with his look on this week’s WWE NXT.
Following his explosive debut on last week’s WWE NXT, Zilla Fatu appeared on the August 18 episode of the developmental brand to officially sign his contract. He cut a promo in the main event segment, saying he wants to prove he is more than a “nympobaby” (nepo baby).
After Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana tried to attack him, General Manager Robert Stone announced that Fatu will challenge Tony D’Angelo for the NXT Championship at Heatwave in a fatal four-way match also featuring Montana and Waller.
Following the event, Zilla Fatu took to his Instagram story to post a side-by-side comparison of himself and The Rock in matching black-and-white patterned shirts, gold chains, and sunglasses. He essentially confirmed that his look from last night’s NXT was inspired by the Great One, who’s his cousin both through blood and the Anoa’i family’s marriage ties.
Zilla Fatu Reveals Emotional Umaga Moment Right Before WWE NXT Debut
Speaking with his trainer Booker T on his Hall of Fame podcast, Zilla Fatu reflected on his WWE NXT debut. He revealed that he felt his father Umaga’s presence while praying right before he went out to the ring.
“Man, whenever I pulled up, I already knew what time it was. Long as they called to play, I ran it. I did exactly what was told, and I put my flavor on it, and we did it like that, and we had fun,” Zilla Fatu began.
“Right before I went out, I said a quick prayer to myself, and I knew my dad was there because I felt him. It just happened. I don’t even know how to express it, Uce. The slide-in, everything I did, and then right before I slid in, I looked at Book. I was like, ‘Okay. Yep, yep. Just as long as he’s looking, we good.’ But other than that, Uce, I couldn’t explain it, man. It’s a memory I’ll never forget,” Zilla Fatu said.
