Barcelona are projected to be very busy during the final weeks of the summer transfer window, particularly in regards to signings. Szczesny, who has admitted in the past that playing football is very difficult for him due to a chronic wrist/arm injury, is out of contract next summer, and it is very likely that he does not renew. Rather than wait until 2027 to sort a replacement, Barcelona are trying to get it done now, and they already have a leading candidate in mind. Fabrizio Romano has reported Barcelona’s interest in Dominik Livakovic. The 31-year-old, who currently plays for Fenerbahce, has been earmarked as Szczesny’s replacement from the 2027-28 season onwards, with the Catalans keen to sign him now before loaning him out for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign. Livakovic deal should be relatively straightforward It would be no surprise if Barcelona wrapped up a deal for Livakovic relatively quickly. Despite being a Croatia international that started all four matches at the 2026 World Cup, he is surplus to requirements at Fenerbahce, so an agreement should be easy to achieve. Once it’s done, the Catalans can seek out the best loan move, which will allow to keep fresh ahead of joining next summer. It makes a lot of sense for Barcelona to sign Livakovic, although they must be careful when it comes to whether he is willing to be a backup to Joan Garcia. Last season, he had issues at Girona after starting the campaign as a backup, so Hansi Flick will be very keen to avoid similar issues in the event of a return to Catalonia for the Croatian.
