Brian Schottenheimer and Kellen Moore met on the field in Oxnard on Tuesday to decide if their teams should keep practicing. The Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints had reached at least six separate altercations by that point in their joint session, and the two head coaches agreed on a threshold for ending the day early. Schottenheimer said afterward that they had settled on canceling it “if a couple of other things happened,” and that the players worked through it before the line was crossed. The clip that traveled furthest came out of one of those scuffles. His uncle Rick Steiner was his father’s tag team partner, and his cousin Bronson Rechsteiner wrestles today as Bron Breakker. He signed with New Orleans as an undrafted rookie out of Jacksonville State after earning a contract from a tryout at May minicamp, and the NFL suspended him for the first six games of the season for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy. The ban starts when rosters are cut to 53 on Aug. 30, so the preseason is the entire window he has to make his case. Schottenheimer said he had already spoken with Ezeiruaku after the first ejection earlier in camp and planned to have the conversation again, describing him as a bright young man who understands the cost to the team. Jalen Thompson was asked afterward if the Cowboys had won the fights. “Of course we did. Come on now,” he told Cowboys reporter Jon Machota.
