LAHORE - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended domestic cricketer Hamza Nazar from all forms of domestic and international cricket for two years and imposed a fine of Rs1 million following an inquiry into the submission of inaccurate information during a visa application process. According to the PCB, the disciplinary action was taken after an investigation found that Hamza Nazar failed to provide complete and accurate details, shared misleading information and withheld important facts while applying for a visa through the board. The PCB had formed a three-member inquiry committee to examine the matter. The committee provided Hamza Nazar an opportunity to present his explanation and respond to the allegations before finalising its findings and recommendations.
After reviewing the committee’s report, considering Hamza Nazar’s response and evaluating all relevant aspects of the case, the PCB decided to impose a two-year suspension from all domestic and international cricket activities along with a financial penalty of Rs1 million.
The PCB stated that issues involving misrepresentation, non-disclosure of facts and submission of misleading information are treated with utmost seriousness as they undermine the principles of honesty, professionalism and accountability expected from individuals associated with Pakistan cricket.
The board reiterated that it remains committed to maintaining high standards of integrity and discipline and will take firm action against any conduct that could damage the reputation of Pakistan cricket and the trust of millions of fans. The suspension will prevent Hamza Nazar from participating in any cricket-related activity under the PCB’s jurisdiction during the two-year period.
