Texas didn’t just make major additions on offense; let’s take an early look at the Longhorns’ top defensive acquisition with an early Rasheem Biles 2027 NFL Draft profile. Biles is one of the most electric playmakers in the country and should play a huge role in Texas getting back on track after an underwhelming 2025 campaign. What makes Biles such an interesting prospect, and how high can he go in the 2027 NFL Draft? Rasheem Biles 2027 NFL Draft Early Player Profile Measurables Height- 6-foot-1 Weight- 222 pounds Background Biles was a three-star recruit coming out of Pickerington Central (Ohio) and was the 72nd-ranked athlete in the Class of 2023. He committed to the Pittsburgh Panthers, where he spent his first three collegiate seasons. Biles played mostly on special teams as a true freshman, logging two tackles and blocking three punts. After serving as a major contributor on special teams in 2023, he became a starter on defense in 2024. Biles immediately put the ACC on notice, having 82 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He also had a 35-yard pick-six against the Syracuse Orange, which would become a trend going forward. As good as Biles was as a sophomore, he was even more dominant in 2025. He racked up 101 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in just 10 games. Biles added three more defensive touchdowns as a junior: two pick-sixes and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. After two productive seasons with the Panthers, he transferred to Texas to fill the void left by Titans’ second-round pick Anthony Hill Jr. at linebacker. Rasheem Biles 2027 NFL Draft Strengths There isn’t a linebacker in college football who makes as many splash plays as Biles. He has four defensive touchdowns over the past two seasons and can flip a game on any given play. Biles has proven production across the board as a tackler, pass rusher and in coverage. He plays with incredible speed and athleticism, which allows him to quickly close space when getting after the quarterback and making stops against the run. His instincts are exceptional, as he does a great job reading the quarterback’s eyes and sniffing out RPOs and play action. Biles is an elite run defender, as his 89.3 PFF grade in that area suggests. He does well at shedding blocks and is a solid tackler. Biles is very good as a pass rusher, having 10 sacks since 2024. His coverage skills are also a strength, as he is a quality zone defender. Biles is alignment-versatile; while he lines up predominantly off the ball, he can also play on the edge and in the slot. Rasheem Biles 2027 NFL Draft Weaknesses The biggest concern with Biles is his size, measuring at 6-foot-1 and 222 pounds. He is very undersized for an NFL linebacker, which can hurt his draft stock. Although he’s a great run defender at the collegiate level, his smaller frame may be an issue in the trenches at the next level. Biles struggled with penalties in 2025, having seven called on him. Rasheem Biles 2027 NFL Draft Overview This upcoming linebacker class is headlined by two prospects, Notre Dame’s Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa and Clemson’s Sammy Brown. Biles has a strong case as the third-best linebacker on the board and can move up if he performs well on a bigger stage at Texas. He’s a great athlete who can defend the run, get after the quarterback, and be an asset in coverage. His ability to make splash plays is incredibly rare, making him one of the most intriguing prospects in 2027. The lack of size is a legitimate concern and could limit his production in the NFL. Biles’s teammate Kyle Louis fell to the fourth round and also had size concerns. Even with his smaller frame, he is an all-around playmaker who can be a major contributor on any defense he goes to. Linebackers have gotten smaller and faster to keep up with the increasing need to be good in coverage and have enough range to close in on running backs in space. Biles fits the new mold at the position and has shown he can be productive. He currently projects as a late second-round pick, but he can move up and potentially enter first-round conversations with another great season in 2026.
