Red Bull has confirmed that Isack Hadjar will not compete in this weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort after suffering a wrist injury during the summer break. As a result, Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson will step up to Oracle Red Bull Racing for the 12th round of the 2026 Formula 1 season, replacing Hadjar alongside Max Verstappen. Lawson’s seat at Racing Bulls will then be filled by the team’s Reserve Driver, Yuki Tsunoda, who will make his return to a race seat at the Circuit Zandvoort. The Japanese driver will partner rookie Arvid Lindblad. The reshuffle means that Tsunoda will return to the team with which he spent several seasons before moving to Red Bull Racing during the 2025 campaign. After losing his full-time F1 seat at the end of last season, Tsunoda was appointed as test and reserve driver for both Red Bull and Racing Bulls. For Lawson, the promotion represents another opportunity to race for Red Bull’s senior team. The New Zealander previously replaced Tsunoda at Red Bull for the opening two Grands Prix of the 2025 season before returning to Racing Bulls. Since then, Lawson has established himself as one of the strongest midfield performers in 2026 and currently sits as the highest-scoring driver outside the leading teams. Hadjar, meanwhile, had enjoyed an impressive run of form before his injury. The Frenchman currently occupies eighth place in the Drivers’ Championship and had scored points in seven consecutive Grands Prix. Red Bull confirmed the change in an official statement: “Hadjar has sustained a wrist injury during summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix. “We will be welcoming back Lawson who will replace him in RB22 this weekend. The Team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam for stepping in on short notice.” Racing Bulls also confirmed Tsunoda’s return to the race cockpit and praised both drivers for their flexibility. “We thank both Liam and Yuki for their adaptability as the teams prepare for the weekend and we wish Isack a speedy recovery.” Tsunoda will therefore make his first Grand Prix start of the 2026 season at Zandvoort, while Lawson will have the chance to demonstrate his progress at Red Bull once again.
