Wilson Isidor will stay at Sunderland this season - and here is why
Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor has been linked with a move to Championship club West Ham United in recent weeks.
Wilson Isidor’s future at Sunderland has been the source of ongoing speculation after Championship newcomers West Ham United were linked with a move for the Haiti international.
The Hammers are looking to piece together a squad capable of pushing for an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation from the top flight last season and they have already added Venezuela international winger Keiber Lamadrid and Brighton and Hove Albion defender Joel Veltman to their squad over recent weeks. However, there is still a determination to add to their attacking ranks and that has led to links with Isidor.
The former Zenit Saint Petersburg forward joined the Black Cats on a permanent deal in February 2025 after impressing during a loan stint throughout the first half of the same season. Isidor marked his Premier League debut by finding the net in a 3-0 win against West Ham and went on to score five more goals during the league campaign as Regis Le Bris’ side secured a seventh placed finish and landed a place in this season’s Europa League.

Sunderland are believed to be keen to retain Isidor’s services ahead of an exciting season - and BBC Newcastle’s Nick Barnes believes the forward’s love for the Stadium of Light faithful will ensure he will be part of the squad that could face the likes of AC Milan and Juventus in Europe during the new campaign.
He told BBC Sport: "Le Bris didn't want to see Isidor go, and the club have been very firm in that. He has been linked with West Ham, but it is looking clear that he is not going to go to the London Stadium. Some people felt last season when he came on he didn't look wholeheartedly in it, but his attitude off the pitch is good. The fans love him and he loves the fans. He talks all about the Premier League, so even to entertain a move to West Ham is not on the horizon as he wants to establish himself as a Premier League player."
