Hull City transfer news: 'Challenge' excites young midfielder with eye for goal Hull City have signed goalscoring midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl on a five-year contract. Having come through at his hometown club, the 20-year-old felt Hull was the right place for a new challenge after being given the hard sell by coach Sergej Jakirovic and chairman Acun Ilicali. "I heard of the club’s interest a little over a week ago," said Hjerto-Dahl. "From there, it’s happened really fast. “I spoke to the chairman on a video call and he told me lots of good things about the club. I also spoke to Sergej and I really like his vision for me and for the team. “I’m a tall midfielder. I like to get forward, run with the ball, pass the ball forward. I can arrive late in the box. I am strong in duels, both in the air and across the ground. “The last three and-a-half years with the senior team were the greatest years of my life in Tromso. I will miss them but I’m ready for Hull and what’s waiting here. “I needed a challenge and this is the biggest challenge you can get. I think this is the right step and that Hull can help me improve. “I’ve heard a lot of great things about the atmosphere, so I’m really looking forward to it.” Although he can also play deeper in midfield, it is Hjerto-Dahl's eye for goal which should perhaps excite Hull fans the most. As a summer league, Norwegian's top division is in full flow, but Hjerto-Dahl is its joint-second highest scorer with seven goals in 14 games. In all he played 105 times for Tromso – including in Europa and Conference League qualifiers – and scored 19 goals with 11 assists. Tromso finished third in the Eliteserien in 2023 and 2025. With Hull's recruitment drive starting to gain momentum after a slow start, he is their sixth addition of the window as they build up towards their return to the Premier League, at home to Manchester United on August 22.
