Wilfried Gnonto and Anton Stach reply as Sebastiaan Bornauw pens emotional Leeds farewell Sebastian Bornauw has already said his farewells to Leeds United fans ahead of his move to Hamburg. The centre-back has been in talks over a switch to the Bundesliga side for a couple of weeks now. Bornauw only arrived at Leeds from Wolfsburg a year ago for a fee in the region of £5million. Following the arrival of Tarik Muharemovic at Elland Road a month ago, however, plus Nico Elvedi's imminent signing, Bornauw was granted permission to leave. Confirmation of the transfer is believed to be imminent amid the latest being reported. And Bornauw has thanked Leeds fans for everything over the past 12 months in a classy message on social media. What is latest on Sebastiaan Bornauw's Leeds exit? It was reported on Tuesday that Bornauw had already undergone an extensive medical with Hamburg. Personal terms had already been agreed, as had an agreement with Leeds over an initial loan with an option to buy. It is believed Hamburg will pay around £3.9m to sign the 27-year-old permanently at the end of the campaign. Taking to his personal Instagram account on Tuesday evening, Bornauw said: "Dear Leeds family. It’s been a short chapter, but one I'll never forget. "The MOT family is something else - this club is truly special. Thanks for making me feel at home from day one. "I loved every minute wearing this badge, especially those nights at Elland Road. All the best, Leeds." The post was accompanied by a series of images of Bornauw playing for Leeds. Gabriel Gudmundsson commented with "Sebinho", while fellow Leeds colleague Anton Stach simply replied with two love hearts. Wilfried Gnonto, meanwhile, wrote: "Good luck my little wolf." Noah Okafor and new signing Muharemovic also left replies on the post, showing how popular Bornauw was at Thorp Arch. Why Bornauw message means next Leeds signing is close Bornauw is being allowed to leave due to Elvedi's imminent arrival at Elland Road. Leeds were reluctant to sign off on the four-cap Belgium international's exit until that Elvedi deal was in place, so not to be left short at the back. Well with Bornauw effectively confirming his own exit, you have to assume Elvedi's arrival will also now be confirmed imminently. Elvedi is reportedly being signed for £8.5m, and he will be an upgrade on Bornauw at the back for Daniel Farke. It is another good piece of business from the Whites, even if it is sad to see the back of squad player Bornauw already.
