Leigh Leopards have allowed off-contract young back Will Brough depart to join Championship outfit Goole Vikings on loan ‘until the end of the season’. That was announced by Goole, who have just two games of their season left, meaning Brough will be on loan at the Vikings for the next fortnight before returning to Leigh for the remainder of the Super League season. It’s the latest in a string of loan moves for Brough, though he has made his debut for the Leopards this season. The versatile back, who is adept in the centres, or at full-back or half-back, featured for Leigh in their round seven loss to Warrington Wolves. Brough played centre that day but much of his time out on loan has been in the spine, including seven of his eight matches at Halifax. The last of those came in early July but now, just over a month later, he has landed a deal with Goole for their final two matches of the season. Goole, who sit 14th, can’t possibly make the play-offs so Brough will play just twice for them, starting this weekend when Scott Taylor’s side face Swinton Lions at home, before a tough home fixture in the final round against Doncaster. The Vikings confirmed the capture of the Leigh man via social media, with Leopards boss Adrian Lam expected to be asked about the move at his press conference later today. A statement from Goole read: “The Vikings injury-hit squad has been boosted by the signing of former Leigh Leopards back Will Brough until the end of the season. “The goal kicking playmaker can play at centre, full back or half back – adding some invaluable depth to the stretched Vikings squad. “From Hull originally, the son of former Super League star, Danny Brough, will be in contention for this week’s squad against Swinton.”
